President Ilham Aliyev meets UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva met UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, May 5.

At the meeting, successful development of the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO, and the significance of the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, which has great worldwide influence, was given high appreciation from this perspective.  

Expressing his gratitude for the great significance UNESCO attaches to the Forum, President Ilham Aliyev said there is a growing interest towards the World Forum for International Dialogue, and this event has already become global.

Irina Bokova expressed her contentment with UNESCO’s being one of the partners of this Forum. She said 15 different projects are presented at the Forum by UNESCO, which attaches great importance to this reputable event. Irina Bokova said: “UNESCO highly appreciates the position of Azerbaijan, which has been enjoying great influence in the region, and its friendly and kind relations with all neighbouring countries.”

Delivering her congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev and Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva on the occasion of the Forum’s great worldwide success, the UNESCO Director General noted that Baku has been known in the world as a hub of intercultural dialogue.
