First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva attends the inauguration of the Azerbaijan State Culture and Art University's main education building after major repair

Inauguration of the Azerbaijan State Culture and Art University’s main building took place after major repair, May 4.

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony.

The Azerbaijan State Culture and Art University had been based on the Baku Theatre School established in 1923. The university moved to this four-storied building in 1997. No major repair works had been done here so far. The education building of this higher school is ready to receive teachers and students after the major repair. Repair works at this education institution started a year ago, in May 2016. Over 2 thousand students study at the university, with about 300 pedagogues. The university has five faculties – painting, culturology, music art, cinema and television, and theatre. Three faculties are functioning in this building.

Mehriban Aliyeva viewed a stand entitled “Valiant Azerbaijani Army”, installed in the university’s foyer. Then, the First Vice-president took interest in the conditions created in the “Heydar Aliyev Culture and Art School” in the education building.

There is also a library-information centre established in the university. There are over 40 thousand professional books in the university’s library fund. 21 thousand of them are in this centre. There are also about 70 books about the rich legacy of national leader Heydar Aliyev, political activity of President Ilham Aliyev, and the care and attention shown by Firs Vice-president of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva towards culture and art.

Azerbaijan’s First Vice-president became familiarized with a small scene in the university. Previously, a hall not complying with regulations functioned here. And now, a scene provided with the cutting edge equipment has been built here. After the repair, the education building was provided with the latest light and sound equipment, and about ten creativity rooms were formed. Inventory rooms, sound recording studios, operator’s rooms and a music hall are located in the basement.

“SABAH” groups established at the Education Ministry’s initiative are functioning at the university. The objective of establishing the “SABAH” groups is to create favourable conditions for students distinguished for their talents and those with good mark, to receive high quality education. A group comprised of 31 students go on tours. They have been to Lankaran, Mingachevir and Poland. Master classes are arranged regularly for the “SABAH” group.

Different floors of the education building accommodate 11 lecture-rooms provided with special light and sound equipment for cinema and television specialties, an education studio for television specialty, lecture-rooms, halls, work and lesson rooms. Here, students will stage various works and do shootings. Students will have a possibility to watch the works they have created on the screens installed in the same rooms, and have discussions.

Expressing her gratitude for the conditions created after the major repair, the First Vice-president wished successes in the university’s activity.
