Visit to Turkey

On April 13, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva were on a business visit to the Turkish Republic to participate in the 13^th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Head of the State and the first lady were greeted at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport by Turkey’s high-ranking state and government officials.

A dinner in honour of heads of states and governments

On April 14, a dinner was given on behalf of Turkish President Rejeb Tayyib Erdogan and Mrs Emine Erdogan in honour of the heads of states and governments participating in the 13^th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

13^th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation

The 13^th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started in Istanbul, April 14. Hosted by Turkey, one of the founders of OIC, the Summit is held under the slogan of “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace”.

A session on the topic “A leading role of first ladies in combatting cancer” within the framework of the Istanbul Summit

A session took place, April 14, on the topic “A leading role of first ladies in combatting cancer” within the framework of the 13^th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the session.

Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was greeted by Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan.

The session started with reading of an ayah from the holy Koran.

Turkey’s first lady opened the session. Noting the possibility of preventing and treating cancer, Emine Erdogan put forward a proposal to create a data bank as a first measure to be taken in this sphere.

Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the session.

At the session, the declaration “A leading role of first ladies in combatting cancer” was signed by spouses of heads of OIC member states.
