First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva pays a visit to the grave of eminent scholar Aida Imanguliyeva

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, arriving at the 2nd Alley of Honour, paid a visit to the grave of eminent orientalist-scholar Aida Imanguliyeva to mark her birthday, respectfully revering her memory, October 10.

Mehriban Aliyeva put a bunch of flowers before the grave of the scholar who has had unique merits in the development of the oriental studies in Azerbaijan. 

Then Mehriban Aliyeva, arriving at the Alley of Honours, revered the memory of the Azerbaijani people’s national leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect and builder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan, and put flowers before his grave. 

Thereafter, Mehriban Aliyeva revered the memory of eminent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and put flowers before her grave. 

One of the most significant researchers of the contemporary Arab literature, Aida Imanguliyeva’s name went down the history as the first Muslim woman-orientalist, researcher of Arab migrant literature, and the founder of the Azerbaijani school of Arab literary criticism. Having worked in the capacity of the director of the Oriental Studies Institute of the Academy of Sciences, Aida khanum had been recognized as one of the valuable experts in the contemporary Arab literature in the former Soviet Union, due to her talent and diligence. Aida Imanguliyeva has left us a rich scientific legacy, having significantly enriched the world oriental studies by her fundamental research works. Professor Aida Imanguliyeva was one of the scholars who had combined the scientific talent, organizational skills and pedagogical activity, bestowed upon very few people.
