First Vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva meets the delegation led by Secretary of State and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Batiste Lemoyne

First Vice-president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva met, September 15, the delegation led by Secretary of State and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Jean-Batiste Lemoyne.

Expressing her delight in seeing the French guests in Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva said this was the first visit by the delegation to our country after the presidential elections took place in France, wishing them successes. Saying “It is very rejoicing that your visit coincides with a very significant for both our country and our bilateral relations event. Today, the inauguration of the French-Azerbaijani University’s new building will take place in Baku. This event is a continuation of the cooperation between our peoples in recent years, including cooperation in the humanitarian sphere”, Mehriban Aliyeva expressed confidence that the university will give additional impetus to the strengthening of our bilateral relations. She noted that a French lycée has been operating in Baku. And this lycée is one of the leading education institutions in Baku, appreciating the activity of the French-Azerbaijani University as a very significant step towards developing the relations in the educational sphere. She emphasized that this event will, at the same time, contribute to deepening the relations between students, academics and scientists from both the countries. Mehriban Aliyeva, once more underscoring the importance of humanitarian cooperation in strengthening and widening the relations, said the ties built in this area are the key factor in bringing people closer. A number of achievements reached by our country recent years in this field, promotion of realities of Azerbaijan, its culture and history in France were brought to attention.

Expressing hope that the cooperation between the two countries will continue successfully further, Mehriban Aliyeva said that the 25th anniversary of building diplomatic ties between Azerbaijan and France is celebrated, and that extensive relations have been built during these years between our countries in a number of spheres. Our relations have based on mutual respect and interest. Having a look at the previous years, Mehriban Aliyeva said our relations covered various spheres, including power engineering, transportation, technologies, and agriculture. It was emphasized that our bilateral relations had bigger potential, and gratitude was expressed for the interest and attention shown towards our country.

Jean-Batiste Lemoyne said he was well informed of Mehriban Aliyeva’s activities, noting that she has done a great deal of work to deepen the relations between the two countries, highly appreciating these activities. It was mentioned that these were important steps towards cooperation.
