President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attend the inauguration of a new service centre at Post Office No.1 in Baku

Inauguration of a new service centre took place, February 10, after the reconstruction works performed by the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies at Post Office No.1.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the inauguration ceremony.

Services being provided to citizens by the ministry’s entities will be provided at new service centres created in post and telecommunication buildings. Called “Network”, the first service centre has been commissioned at Post Office No.1 at 36, Uzeir Hajibeyli Street. With the total area of over 500 square metres, the centre has been basically repaired, to meet up-to-date standards.

All the software being used at “Network” centres have been developed by local specialists, and meet up-to-date standards. At the centre, customers may also use a special self-service terminal. Here have been installed equipment meeting the latest technological requirements – state-of-the-art laser printers, single-block computers, self-service booths, exchange and payment terminals, ATMs, an up-to-date queue management system (machine) applied in the banking system and fully renewed subscription boxes, and a sorting room meeting up-to-date requirement has been created. Provision has also been made for the organization of all kinds of telecommunication and post, bank and financial services at “Network” service centres. Citizens may apply to this centre for installation of a phone line, connection to Internet, payment of all kinds of communication service charges, IMEI registration of mobile devices, use of electronic government services, electronic signature, currency exchange, and purchase of air tickets. Bringing together a number of services in a single space has allowed to remove loss of time by citizens, and making non-cash payments.

The Head of the State and the First Lady were given information about the e-GovPay payment system. It was mentioned that payment for utility services and other payments may be made using this system. And, in the near future, state dues also will be paid through this system. The primary objective of establishing the “Network” service centres is to provide citizens a high-level service in a centralized order. Trainings are arranged here for the staff. Over 60 people have been recruited for job.

Comprehensive information was given also about the novelties carried out in connection with the “electronic signature” and “electronic government” portal. It was underscored that those travelling to various foreign countries may purchase air tickets here on preferential terms. At these centres, citizens will be served uninterruptedly, 7 days a week, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Having made himself familiarized with the new service centre, President Ilham Aliyev wished successes to the staff, gave his recommendations, set appropriate tasks.
