Mehriban Aliyeva is honoured with “Martyr Benazir Bhutto Woman Perfection Prize-2013” Award

The ceremony of presenting “Martyr Benazir Bhutto Woman Perfection Prize-2013” Award was held in Larkana city of Pakistan’s Sind region.

Pakistan’s former President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister of the Sind Province Kaim Ali Shah, ministers being represented at the provincial cabinet, members of the National Assembly and senators attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Asif Ali Zardari announced that Azerbaijan’s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva was honoured with “Martyr Benazir Bhutto Woman Perfection Prize-2013” Award.

Minister for Family and Woman Affairs of the Sind Province Rubina Kaimkhani talked of the projects implemented at the initiative of and with support from Mehriban Aliyeva in the spheres of education, public health, as well as in the humanitarian field in provinces of Pakistan. She mentioned, as an example, the construction of a girls’ school in the city of Muzaffarabad, which suffered from the earthquake in 2007: “The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has been implementing new projects in Pakistan since 2012. Within the framework of one of these projects, a school damaged by floods has been repaired by the Foundation. By another project, vaccination was carried out against hepatitis B virus in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, free-of-charge medical examination organized at “Akbar Care” Cerebral Palsy Institute of Peshawar city, and open heart surgeries were conducted at Kulsum hospital. Moreover, state-of-the-art blood-infusion equipment and an ambulance equipped with a laboratory, as well as thousands of blood-infusion packages were purchased for Hamza Foundation in Peshawar. Material supports were provided to the construction of a new building of the Khyber Eye Foundation, and to Saif Foundation, and now construction of a water supply system is underway in Diar Ismail Khan district.” The Minister mentioned also that in 2012 and 2013, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation organized Iftar tables for children in all provinces of Pakistan during the month of Ramadan, sacrificed animals were cut in the cities of Islamabad and Fayzabad of Punjab province, Lakki Marwat city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, as well as in a district of the Balochistan province suffered from earthquake, and distributed among the pour: “36 students of  12 leading universities of Pakistan and 5 pupils of Rara school are receiving a monthly scholarship at the Foundation’s initiative.”

First Lady of Turkey Hairunnisa Gul was also honoured with the Award “Martyr Benazir Bhutto Woman Perfection Prize-2013”.
