Mehriban Aliyeva pays a visit to ELPIDA Friendship Association of Children Suffering from Cancer in Athens

On June 15, Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva paid a visit to ELPIDA Friendship Association of Children Suffering from Cancer in Athens.

ELPIDA Friendship Association was established in 1990. Highly respected in the Greek society, this society has been showing special care towards children suffering from cancer, which is why people have much respect for this organization.

Then a video-film dedicated to ELPIDA’s activity was shown.

President of the Association Marianna Vardinoyannis expressed her pleasure of seeing Mehriban Aliyeva at ELPIDA, and noted that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by her, has been implementing large-scale projects in the spheres of education, healthcare, culture etc., both in Azerbaijan and around the world.

Referring to ELPIDA’s projects, Marianna Vardinoyannis talked about the association’s activities during the past period,  touched upon the relations built with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and mentioned that the Thalassemia Centre was operating in Baku.

Then the First Lady fixed the star with her name on the board with the names of eminent persons that have visited ELPIDA, and presented gifts on behalf of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to children.
